Guest Sharing Highlight
In our event, we invited three guests from the community to share their related stories that happened during Typhoon Hato from three different perspectives of architecture, traditional festivals, and seafood industries.
今年的活動主題為 「風雨育蓮」，我們邀請了來自社區的三位不同嘉賓，從建築、傳統節日和海味幹貨行業等三個不同角度分享他們在臺風「天鴿」期間發生的相關故事，並就其展開了討論。
樊飛豪博士 Dr. Francisco Vizeu Pinheiro
建築師，澳門聖若瑟大學創意產業學院助理教授，江南大學客座教授。他的主要研究領域是公共住房在老齡化社會中的人口和社會影響，綠色都市主義與振興的協同作用，以及澳門的旅遊業。
Architect, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Creative Industries at University of St. Joseph in Macao, and Visiting Professor in Jiangnam University, in Mainland China. His work involves the urban rehabilitation projects in Macao historical centers.
關志和小姐 Ms. Kate, KWAN Chi Wo
關女士目前是研究員，同時是中國民俗學會、澳門鮮魚行總會的成員，及遺產學會副會長。她的研究興趣主要集中在傳統節日及其文化空間，文化遺產旅遊的可持續性等方面。
Ms. Kate, KWAN Chi Wo is a freelancer researcher currently; and she is also a member of the China Folklore Society (中國民俗學會), Macao Fishmonger Association (澳門鮮魚行總會), and the vice-president of Heritage Society (遺產學會). Her research interests mainly focus on traditional festivals and their cultural spaces, and the sustainability of heritage and tourism.

梁國祥先生經營著港澳梁潮記海味有限公司。同時，他也是澳門餐飲業聯合商會的常務理事。作為澳門海產品及飲食行業的一員，他將分享有關氣候變化的獨特見解。
Mr. Leong Kuok Cheong operates a business "Leong Chiu Kei Marisqueira Limitada". Meanwhile, he is one of the executive director of United Association of Food and Beverage Merchants of Macao (UAFBMM). As a member of Macao's seafood and catering industry, he will share unique insights on climate change.
Question 1：
What are some losses of heritage around you during Typhoon Hato?
在颱風“天鴿”期間，你周圍的遺產有哪些損失?

Typhoon Hato destroyed nearly 2000 trees, including significant century-old Indian banyan trees, and caused damage to structures and buildings in Macao. Traditional steeled houses in Coloane were washed away, while the Guia lighthouse's boundary wall collapsed. Inner Harbor shops experienced product loss and buildings suffered structural damage by the 3-meter high wave.
颱風 "天鴿 "摧毀了近2000棵樹，包括重要的百年印度榕樹，並對澳門的結構和建築物造成損害。路環的傳統鐵皮屋被沖走，東望洋燈塔的圍牆倒塌，內港商鋪出現產品損失，建築物受到3米高海浪的結構破壞。

The Basin Meal of Drunken Dragon Festival is set up outside according to the traditions. When it rains, festival participants need to go to the Red Market to eat. It is the direct impact of climate on the protection of traditional customs. The elderly who participated in the Drunken Dragon Festival are prone to falls in heavy rain and floods, and need to prepare for emergency measures.
魚行醉龍節的盆菜按照傳統設置在室外。下雨時，節日參與者需要到紅街市就餐，這是氣候對傳統習俗保護的直接影響。 參加魚行醉龍節的老人在大雨和洪水中容易摔倒，需要做好應急準備。

Rua de Cinco de Outubro, Rua da Praia do Manduco, Rua da Praia do Manduco Patane, are areas where seafood shops gather, and they are all depressions. They are the hardest hit by typhoons and floods, with heavy losses and hundreds of millions of goods lost.
十月初五街，下環街，沙梨頭一帶是海味店鋪聚集區，且都是窪地, 是颱風洪澇的重災區，損失慘重，貨物損失數以億計。
Climate change has brought about many environmental changes, and it is necessary to prevent typhoons and other meteorological disasters. The government should use technology to forecast typhoons in a more timely manner and inform people in advance to prepare, also allows people to obtain information in advance about when typhoons will affect the city.
氣候變化帶來了諸多環境變化，需要防範颱風等氣象災害。 政府應該利用技術更及時地預報颱風，並提前通知人們做好準備，同時讓人們提前獲得有關颱風何時影響城市的資訊。

Question 2：
When cultural heritage is facing threats from extreme weather events like Typhoon Hato, how did you respond?
面對來自極端天氣（如天鴿）對於文化遺產的威脅，您是如何應對的？

A case-by-case approach needs to be adopted for this issue, for St. Dominic's Church and Se. Catedral, they are located in protected area, with tall buildings surrounded, which makes them safer when facing typhoons and flooding.
對於這個問題，通常需要具體情況具體分析。 比如對於玫瑰聖母堂和主教座堂等建築，它們都位於保護區內，周圍都是高樓大廈，在面對颱風和洪水時更安全。
In order to protect the trees in a typhoon, it is necessary to tie the trees and fix them, and trim the branches, so as to minimize the impact of the typhoon on them. It is also necessary to take protective measures for the roof and windows in advance before the typhoon.
為了在颱風中保護好樹木，需要把樹固定好，修剪好樹枝，從而把颱風的對其影響降到最低。也需要在颱風前提前為屋頂和窗戶做好保護措施。
A map of damaged and destroyed buildings needs to be developed for cultural heritage documentation and future policy formation.
需要制定一個受災建築地圖，為了文化遺產記錄及未來政策的規劃。

The structure of Red Market has been eroded by the wet weather and the interior is overgrown with weeds. After renovation of Red Market, it should adapt to the changing weather in Macao’s different seasons.
紅街市的結構被潮濕的天氣所侵蝕，內部也長滿了雜草。紅街市的翻新工程應該適應澳門不同季節的氣候變化。

People are raising awareness of climate change. Channeling is very important for the drainage system of Macao. For example, Lai Kei Restaurant is located on a small slope, but it may also encounter flooding. In this case, it is necessary to channel in time to drain water.
人們在提高對氣候變化的意識。通渠對於澳門的排水系統十分重要，比如禮記酒家在一個小斜坡上，但是也會遇到水浸，這時需要及時的通渠從而排水。

Question 3：
What have you done to prevent the extreme weathers’ impact on the heritage in the future?
為了 防止未來極端天氣對遺產的影響，你們採取了哪些措施?
樊飛豪博士 Dr. Francisco Vizeu Pinheiro
Taipa Municipal Market was supposed to be demolished as the structure was not strong enough which is around 100 years old. Using metal structure and building some bricks around, can improve the resilience of structure to survive a typhoon.
St. Dominic's Church, the roof was very much dilapidated because of the infiltration of water. The government spends several millions more than 20 millions, in replace the roof of the church.
氹仔市集原本是要拆除的，因為它有大約100年的歷史，結構不夠堅固。使用金屬結構，並在周圍砌築一些磚塊，可以提高結構在颱風中生存的坚韧性。玫瑰聖母堂的屋頂由於水的滲入而變得非常破舊。政府花費幾百萬多千萬，更換了教堂的屋頂。
Many elderly people live in old buildings in the Inner Harbor of Macao. Facing the impact of climate disasters on heritage buildings, many community residents are old and powerless. Both academia and the government have to make cultural mapping and planning for these vulnerable heritage.
同時，澳門內港很多老建築有老人居住。在氣候災難對遺產建築的侵害面前，大多數社區居民年事已高，都無能為力。學術界和政府都必須對這些脆弱的遺產進行文化地圖的記錄和規劃。
Typhoons have been a part of Macao's cultural heritage for centuries……
颱風現象在澳門地區持續了數個世紀之久，也是當地的文化遺產......

The Drunken Dragon Festival is based on traditional community customs. Hence, bottom-up management can provide safeguards for the festival to deal with various unexpected weather conditions.
魚行醉 龍節是基於社區的傳統習俗，所以自下而上的管理方式能夠為節日應對各種突發天氣狀況，提供保障措施。

Since Typhoon Hato, people in the seafood industry have raised their awareness of climate disaster prevention. Once they hear the news of typhoon, they put their goods on a higher place to prevent flooding. The most important thing is to dredge more channels.
自從颱風天鴿後，做海味行業的人都提高了對氣候災害的預防意識，一聽到有颱風的消息就把貨物放在較高的地方防止水浸。最重要的還是多疏通管道。
