Macao is a coastal port city closely related to maritime trade. An an important industry, the history of Macao's shipbuilding can be traced back to the mid-19th century, or even earlier, and is considered one of the traditional industries in Macao. However, with global climate change becoming increasingly severe, various types of extreme weather in Macao are becoming more frequent. These extreme weather also affect both the tangible and intangible aspects of Macao's shipbuilding industry. For example, tangible impacts include changes in raw materials and shipbuilding structures, and even major disruptions to maritime routes; intangible impacts involve the accumulation of weather knowledge and the belief in praying for safety in unknown circumstance of the sea.
澳門是一個沿海港口城市，與海上貿易密切相關。澳門造船業作為澳門重要的產業，其歷史可以追溯到19世紀中葉，甚至更早，被認為係澳門傳統行業之一。然而，隨著全球氣候變化日益嚴重，澳門各類型極端天氣變得越來越頻繁。這些極端天氣也影響著澳門造船業的物質層面和非物質層面，例如:對物質層面的影響有造船業的原材料以及造船結構，甚至航海路線都會可能受到重大影響；對非物質層面的影響有造船業應對氣候的天氣知識和在未知航海情況下祈求平安的信仰。

Story Line
As the carrier of the shipbuilding industry, Lai Chi Vun Shipyards has witnessed the evolution of the shipbuilding industry in Macao and at the same time demonstrated the life evolution of the shipbuilders. The Lai Chi Vun Shipyards is close to the sea and is often affected by climate changes. Therefore, the shipbuilders who are living in Lai Chi Vun Shipyards gradually learned how to overcome the climate changes. After accumulating experience, they will also use the climate changes to complete the shipbuilding steps. The Lai Chi Vun Shipyard not only ignited the prosperity of Macao's shipbuilding industry, but also ignited the hopes of Macao fishermen and shipbuilders. It also provides shelter from wind and rain for shipbuilders.
荔枝碗船廠區作為造船業的載體，見證了澳門造船業的演變，同時也展示了造船者的生活演變。荔枝碗船廠靠近大海，經常受到氣候變化的影響。因此，生活在荔枝碗船廠的造船者逐漸學會了如何克服天氣的變化。在積累經驗後，造船的工序也會利用和融入天氣帶來得有利因素。荔枝碗船廠不僅促進了澳門造船業的繁榮，也點燃了澳門漁民和造船者的希望。它還為造船者提供了遮風避雨的地方。
Macao is surrounded by the sea, and has been affected by climate changes for a long time. Therefore, in order to protect fishermen, Fishermen’s Mutual Help Association (Associação de Auxílio Mútuo de Pescadores de Macau) was established. Most of the boats built before the 1980s were wooden fishing boats. Because there are 70% fishermen of Macao population, the demand for wooden materials is high. Due to the abnormal climate, the wooden materials that are extremely beneficial to the structure of fishing boats are endangered. Therefore, through the knowledge exchange of fishermen in the Association, other wood materials are used to replace the original materials. Therefore, the Association is similar to the lighthouse where the darkness guides the fishermen.
澳門四面環海,長期受到氣候變化帶來的影響。為了保障漁民的需求, 漁民互助會成立了。80年代前造船的船隻大多數是木製漁船。因為澳門人口有70%都是漁民,所以對木材料的需求很大。 由於氣候的反常導致對漁船結構極為有利的木材料瀕危，所以通過漁民互助會漁民可以互相交流，例如用其它木材料頂替原有的材料。因此，漁民互助會就像漆黑裡面的螢火蟲一樣為漁民指引。
There are many wooden sailboat models placed in the Associação dos Operários de Estaleiro de Macau, and shipbuilders make different models in the shipbuilding union every day. Meanwhile, Sucursal dos Operários de Estaleiro de Coloane is open to the public and there are always many people coming to visit and communicate with each other. Shipbuilders hope to pass on the craftsmanship of shipbuilding in this way and this traditional handicraft industry can be inherited. The model ship in this small room holds the dreams of generations.
造船工會裡擺放著很多木製帆船模型，造船工人每天都會在造船工會裡製作不同的模型。 同時，路環造船分會對外開放，前來參觀交流的人絡繹不絕。 造船人希望通過這種方式傳承造船工藝，使這一傳統手工業得以傳承。小房間裡的模型船承載著幾代人的夢想。
All shipbuilders believe in Luban. Because the place where the ship is built is near the sea, it is often damaged by the influence of climate changes. Therefore, after believing in Luban, the shipbuilding process will often go smoothly. In addition, when the shipbuilder encounters difficulties, they will pray for Lu Ban's help and blessing, hoping to get guidance. Therefore, shipbuilders always mention Luban when they mention beliefs. For shipbuilders, this is the comfort of the soul and the source of the spirit.
造船的人都會信奉魯班。由於造船的地方附近是海,往往會受到天氣變化的影響而受到破壞。所以,信奉魯班後往往在造船的過程中會順利。此外,當造船的人遇到困難時,就會祈求魯班的幫助和保佑,希望可以得到指引。所以造船的人提及信仰都會提到魯班，這對於造船的人來說是心靈的慰藉亦是精神的來源。
