The structure and design of the ship

The hull structure is the foundation of a ship. At the same time, the structure and design of a ship determine the function and usefulness of a ship. Climate change has led to frequent extreme weather in Macao, such as rising sea level and increasing storms due to climate change. Therefore, the structure of the ship needs to be adjusted according to the actual conditions of these weather conditions in order to adapt to the change of the climate.

In recent years, the number of typhoons in Macao has increased more than before. These storms will affect the navigation of ships, so increasing the number of sails on ships can withstand stronger typhoons. The shipbuilding industry will always face different challenges, and people in the shipbuilding industry need to constantly observe the different changes in the sea and use their experience to design structures to cope with climate change. There are still many shipbuilders in Macao studying the structure of the hull and designing exquisite models of the ship. Sucursal dos Operários de Estaleiro de Coloane and Arquivo de Macau currently place many hull models, and shipbuilders make ship models on site every day. While studying the structural design of the hull, they also want to show this traditional handcraft to the public. Through communication with shipbuilders of Sucursal dos Operários de Estaleiro de Coloane and Arquivo de Macau , we can have a good understanding and learn the knowledge of shipbuilding process.
