近年來澳門的颱風次數比以往增加，這些風暴將會影響船的航行，所以在船上增加船帆的數量可以抵禦強度更大的颱風。造船業會一直面臨不同的挑戰，身處造船業的人需要隨時觀察海上的不同變化並結合自己的經驗設計出應對氣候變化的結構。目前在澳門仍有許多造船師傅研究船體的結構, 從而設計出精緻的船模。路環的造船分會和澳門檔案館目前擺放著許多船體的模型，造船師傅們基本每天都在現場進行船模的製造，他們在研究船體的結構設計的同時也為了展示這項傳統的手工技藝給大眾看，通過與造船分會和檔案館的造船師傅進行交流，可以很好的了解並且學習到造船工藝的知識。
