Macao is located at the southwest end of the Pearl River Delta, surrounded by shallow seas, rich in early fishery resources. And affected by the terrain, the coast is convenient for mooring and suitable for ships to shelter from the wind, forming an excellent harbour. Therefore, it has brought a good foundation for the development of fishery.

澳門地處珠江三角洲西南端，四周為淺海，早期漁業資源豐富。且受地形影響，海岸便於停泊，適宜船舶避風，形成了優良的港灣。因此，為漁業的發展帶來了良好的基礎。

For Macao, fishery has been one of the important economic activities in Macao since the 20th century. Therefore, the acquisition of fishery resources is the first issue that needs to be considered. The local boats in Macao are small in scale, and most of the fishing is carried out in shallow seas by casting nets and other methods. For example, one of the interviewees was the owner of Cheong Heng Shipschandler,  said that early Macao fishermen mainly used fishing nets made of hemp rope for fishing. Nowadays, the material of the net was changed to stronger and more durable nylon. As fishermen seek to catch more fish, the nets they use gradually become denser, resulting in some fish that are not yet fully grown also caught ashore.

對於澳門來說，漁業自20世紀以來一直是澳門重要的經濟活動之一。因此，漁業資源的獲取是首要考慮的問題。澳門本地船隻規模較小，捕魚多在淺海並以撒網等方式進行。例如，其中一名受訪者是祥興五金船具的老闆，他表示，早期澳門漁民主要使用麻繩製成的漁網捕魚。現在，網的材料變成了更加結實耐用的尼龍。由於漁民尋求更多的魚類資源，網變得更密，導致一些尚未完全長大的魚也被打撈上岸。

In addition to shallow sea fishing, some Macao fishermen are also engaged in deep sea fishing and shrimp fishing. The main fishing methods are trawling or purse seine. Depending on the season, fishermen can catch different types of fish and other seafood. The sentence “春邊秋鯉夏三泥” reflect different production produced by different season. It means "Spring eats Parabramis pekinensis, autumn eats carp, and summer eats Tenualosa reevesii". However, with the reduction of fishery resources in the surrounding waters of Macao and the development of the aquaculture industry, it is difficult for this seasonal formula to be reflected in daily life.除了淺海捕魚，一些澳門漁民還從事深海捕魚和捕蝦。主要的捕魚方法是拖網或圍網。根據季節的不同，漁民可以捕獲不同種類的魚和其他海鮮。“春邊秋鯉夏三泥”這句話反映了不同季節生產的不同產品。意思是“春食邊魚，秋食鯉魚，夏食鰣魚”。但是，伴隨著澳門周邊海域的漁業資源減少和養殖產業的發展，這一季節性的口訣已經難以體現在日常的生活中。

Due to climate change and other impacts, it has become more difficult to obtain fishery resources in Macao. Marine pollution and land reclamation projects in Macao are also changing the surrounding marine environment, directly affecting the acquisition of fishery resources. For example, Qingzhou mud crab, Coloane Baak Fa Yu, etc. can no longer be caught in Macao.

由於氣候變化等影響，在澳門獲取漁業資源變得更加困難。澳門的海洋污染和填海造地工程也在改變周邊海洋環境，直接影響著漁業資源的獲取。例如青洲青蟹、路環白花魚等，在澳門已經抓不到了
